Tails Up Paws Down (TUPD) offers positive reinforcement behavior modification to address behavior issues. These methods have, for many years, been studied by many branches of science and proven to be the most effective and have the longest lasting results. Equally important, these approaches build trust, confidence, and strengthen the bond between human and dog. We will never use or recommend any training that uses force, fear, intimidation or pain. Our trainers are experienced and knowledgeable in evidence-based learning, and that’s what your dog deserves!
It may be difficult, but please be honest about your concerns. We would rather have too much information than too little. For safety, and so we can know best how to help, make sure you are as clear as you are able about what is happening with your pet.
If you decide to explore beyond TUPD, here is a link to questions to ask and expected responses from a qualified profession. Please be sure that whomever you choose does not use punishment as a means of problem solving. Be wary if a trainer has a reputation for “fixing” a behavior with a one-time visit, offers a guarantee, refers to him or herself as a “master trainer” and/or includes “dominance” or “alpha” as a need in your relationship with your dog. No matter what trainer you use, it should be fun for you and your dog, there should never be pain involved, and your relationship should be stronger for working together!
